Solar control is a crucial element in office and industrial buildings with large glazed surfaces in the façade as well as in classical conservatories. Usually, a combination of insulation glass and mechanical solar control solutions is used to reduce overheating through sunlight. But this classical solution has two disadvantages: it results in costs for operation and maintenance, and it obstructs the view to the outside when there is a beautiful clear blue sky.

Open and transparent architecture also includes large areas of roof glazing. In the summer, the requirements for heat protection for such roofs are high and frequently hard to achieve. Dimmable solar control glazing guarantees heat protection in the summer, even under large glazed surfaces in the roof. ECONTROL® provides a high level of user comfort, low air conditioning costs and an impressive view of the sky at all times, together with a reduction in glare, even when the sun is at its zenith.

ECONTROL® is also an ideal solution for high-quality conservatories that are aesthetically pleasing.

The ECONTROL® dimmable solar control glass is an intelligent alternative to common shading solutions and provides plenty of daylight in conservatories and behind glass façades as well as a permanently unobstructed view to the outside. The amount of light transmitted by the glass can be flexibly adapted to the user's needs, according to the weather conditions. 

The variable solar factor of the glass ensures a comfortable indoor climate all year round. In the summer, the sun's heat can be blocked (at the highest dimming level), while in the winter (at the lowest dimming level) it is allowed into the building. 

Solar control and daylight are not mutually exclusive: depending on the colouring of the glass, the light transmission ranges from 10 to 55 percent. The interior therefore remains relatively bright even at the highest dimming level.

ECONTROL® windows have an internal nanostructured coating that changes their colour when a low voltage is applied. Through this so-called "electrochromic effect" the glass turns blue to ensure a comfortable interior climate.

The innovative concept for controlling the ECONTROL® dimmable solar control glazing allows glass façades to be controlled automatically or via a PC, tablet or smartphone. The façade can be represented graphically with different elements and views. It can be controlled in individual segments and the current dimming setting is shown. In addition, ECONTROL® provides a remote access solution for customer-friendly service and fast diagnoses.
